GENE BROOKS: Welcome to our website. I'm Gene Brooks and I'm a trial lawyer. I chose to be a trial lawyer because I enjoy the challenges of helping others and the independence of a trial practice. I'm a firm believer that you are best at doing what you enjoy.
We work for people who have been injured or have suffered losses through no fault of their own. We work for the families of those who have been killed as a result of a tragic, preventable incident. At the Brooks Firm we only get paid when our clients recover compensation. We assume the risk and incur the expense of preparing our clients' cases for trial. In the mid 1980s I won my first two jury trials in federal court.

GENE BROOKS: One trial was of a longshoreman whose leg was crippled when his truck was loaded top heavy.

GENE BROOKS: The other verdict was for a merchant marine who fell on some grease and suffered a disabling injury onboard his ship. Both of these men received fair compensation and both were able to go on with their life. And that confirmed to me that I had chosen the right career path. My staff and I meet with people every week who are going through personal tragedies of some type. People need lawyers for all sorts of unexpected reasons. Some have lost their jobs.
