The Verdict Is In

Justice AwardedOn May 29, 2014, a twelve person jury in Chatham County State Court delivered a unanimous verdict for Mr. Gills in his claim against an at-fault driver who was insured by State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. The jury first found that the at-fault driver was liable for repair costs, car rental costs and diminished value. The trial then reconvened and the jury then found that State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. was responsible for insurance bad faith in failing to pay for the reasonable repair costs. In this second phase of the case, the jury awarded the maximum amount of bad faith penalties and attorney fees. The total value of the verdicts was over $42,000.
